The Institut für Kontrolle und Exzess (Institute for Control and Excess), founded at Theater Heidelberg, investigated Heidelberg fraternities and sororities for this production. The team went out to speak to members of fraternities and sororites, activists and dropouts – rumour has it they've even been to fraternity houses. Driven by the desire to shed light onto the obscure fabric of fraternities and sororities, the result was an immersive stage performance. It talks about close friendship and toxic masculinity, treasured rituals and badly ageing conventions, about fencing, drinking and honour – and about degrading violence. A fraternal evening.
