The Philharmonische Barockorchester Heidelberg invites you to its annual Christmas concert – and offers the audience far more than just a festive atmosphere. The programme spans a century of European Baroque music: from Telemann’s playful elegance, through Legrenzi’s powerful polyphony and Locatelli’s pastoral warmth, to Bach’s heartfelt Double Concerto for Violin and Oboe. In between, gems by Stradella, Scarlatti, Vivaldi and Bonporti sparkle. The grand finale is Telemann’s »Burlesque de Quixote«: a musical adventure featuring the noble knight of the sad countenance, in which windmills are stormed, Dulcinée is courted and Sancho Panza is duped – all with a twinkle in the eye that shows Baroque composers certainly knew how to entertain.
