Today, children, there’s going to be something special …
Winter in Schwetzingen
With works by
Georg Philipp Telemann
Johann Sebastian Bach
Domenico Scarlatti
Antonio Vivaldi
and others
Knights, windmills and festive music – what do they have in common? More than you might think! The Heidelberg Philharmonic Baroque Orchestra takes listeners of all ages on a musical journey of discovery through the Baroque era: at times the music glows like candlelight, at others it swirls like a snowstorm, and by the end even the most famous knight in world literature rides through the concert hall – Don Quixote himself!
Along the way, the musicians explain what they’re actually playing – on instruments, some of which are barely recognised today, with music written over 300 years ago that still amazes us. A concert for the whole family that makes you want to listen closely.
