New Year’s Concert

Fireworks for the new year: Emmerich Kálmán’s »Csárdásfürstin« irrevocably catapulted him into the top league of operetta magicians. Audiences are still beguiled by evergreens such as »Das ist die Liebe« and »Machen wir’s den Schwalben nach«. The second part of our new year’s concerts serves up the most beautiful melodies from this veritable hit operetta. A generation earlier than Kálmán, the brothers Johann, Josef and Eduard Strauss had elevated operetta, Viennese waltz, polka, quadrille & co to art forms that were celebrated throughout Europe.
