Over the Rainbow
by Laura Linnenbaum and Jan Preißler
US-American singer Judy Garland was one of the most fascinating artists of her time. She gained fame as a child star in 1939 with »The Wizard of Oz«; there followed a meteoric rise, not least as an icon of the queer community since the 1960s. Garland died at the young age of 47 as a consequence of her alcohol and medication addiction as well as the ludicrous pressures of show business.
Laura Linnenbaum has staged productions in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Frankfurt and more. Following a biographical soiree of song about Edith Piaf in Dresden, she now turns her attention to another legendary twentieth-century singer. Her music and theatre production »Over the Rainbow« is her introduction to the Heidelberg audience.
