Brave New World
Freely adapted from the novel by Aldous Huxley
Swipe, like, shop, stream. We have access to all the information and products imaginable and yet we are in danger of losing ourselves. Whatever happened to real life next to entertainment addiction and beauty craze? Where is the welfare of individuals between surveillance and fake news? In his 1932 novel, Aldous Huxley sketched out a futurist society in which happiness is the greatest imperative, drug use is obligatory and a strict hierarchy replaces personal relationships. This production places teenagers and young adults from Heidelberg on stage to connect themes from the novel with the realities of their own lives: what freedoms are we giving up and at what price?

Participative formats will open the stage for people from Heidelberg and its surroundings. They bring their own stories and perspectives, turning theatre into a place for exchange and collaborative design.
