Dot and Anton
Play for Children and Families
Children are centre-stage in Erich Kästner’s famous story about true friendship, wealth and poverty. A plea for bringing more justice to the world – even in the little things.
Anton’s mother is sick and cannot work. So Anton has to take care of the household. And because there’s not enough money, he goes out to beg. Dot also sneaks from her room every night to sell matches. She does so although her parents are wealthy. Dot should really have it all. But unfortunately her parents think their parenting role is just a side-gig. Despite their differences, Dot and Anton are a strong team and even catch a real criminal.
Director Robert Gerloff has produced numerous plays for children and families, including the treatments of several Erich Kästner novels, including »The Parent Trap«, »Emil and the Detectives« as well as »Emil and the Three Twins«. He puts »Dot and Anton« on stage with wit, musicality and a fast pace as well as a great sense for the cares of children.
