Mr. Schubert … a Winter’s Journey
following Franz Schubert’s song cycle »Winterreise«
Tanzbiennale Heidelberg
»Mr. Schubert ... a Winter’s Journey« is a lyrical work that straddles drama, depth and ease. The wanderer’s quest for support and belonging in Franz Schubert’s »Winterreise« reflects how many people experience life in our times. While the piece shows ways of being alone and individualisation, it doesn’t stop there. The auditorium is designed to place the audience almost vulnerably close to the dancers.
Tim Plegge’s choreography and staging has a fine sense for atmosphere and inner movement. The performance is accompanied by soloists of the musical theatre and opera company as well as a pianist; Schubert’s song cycle is enhanced by passages composed by Peer Baierlein for this show.
