Teaching student Vanessa despairs of the German curriculum’s gaps on colonial history. She sees connections everywhere: between colonialism and the Nazis, between the federal intelligence service and Adenauer’s fear of a powerful Asian continent and the putsch against Indonesia’s first president, the subsequent pogroms and mass murder. Vanessa desperately wants to hear the stories behind the history.
»Asia Weeks« is the first production by director Wang Chong, whose works have been shown across the world, at Theater & Orchester Heidelberg.

On a linguistic level, the play deals with racially motivated physical violence; it tells of genocide and mass murder in the context of colonial violence and, at times, uses discriminatory language.
