DE Season 2026/27

Events and Offers

TheaterMobil

Theatre is coming to you! We are bringing plays to Heidelberg’s districts with the new TheaterMobil. You’ll find us in Emmertsgrund, on Boxberg, at Pfaffengrund and other places – as a planned event or on the spur of the moment. All it takes is to raise the tarpaulin and put up a few chairs: off we go and play for you!
There’s more: please join in and sing, dance, talk, play with us during workshops with a cup of chai, coffee, lemonade or mulled wine. The TheaterMobil is an open space for encounters: a space for conversations, community and moments with arts and culture. Heidelberg is a stage – and its districts lively venues.

Studio X

zwinger x becomes Studio X – a stage for the town. With an even bigger event series, we are adding other venues at Theater & Orchester Heidelberg and throughout the town in addition to zwinger. The X remains in place to represent collaboration and networks with open ears for the city. It stands for diversity and curiosity, encounters and experiments. This is where theatre meets communities, associations and initiatives in joint events and projects. It is open to various formats in arts and debate: queer writing workshops, post-colonial city tours, talks about Jewish life today, drag shows, parties and much more.

Discourse and Dialogue

Perspectives and Positions

Meron Mendel, Director of the Bildungsstätte Anne Frank, and political scientist and journalist Saba-Nur Cheema invite you to a series of socio-political discussions featuring a variety of guests. This brings together different perspectives – in a spirit of debate, respect and equality. Following the on-stage discussion, the audience is welcome to join in the conversation.

  • The first event will take place in April 2027.

Climate Fair

In Heidelberg, there are many opportunities to get involved in climate protection. The Climate Fair invites you to discover initiatives and projects and to engage in conversation with one another. Interactive activities round off the programme.

  • The Climate Fair will take place in spring 2027.

RNZ Forum

In the RNZ Forum, Dr Klaus Welzel, Editor-in-Chief of the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung, regularly hosts discussions at the Heidelberg Theatre. Here he meets prominent guests and experts from the worlds of politics, culture and society, engaging with them in conversation about their lives, work and current issues.

  • The first edition of the 2026/27 season will take place on 21 October 2026 in the Alter Saal.
  • Admission is free; register at rnz-forum@rnz.de or on 06221 / 5195 606.

Against all forms of anti-Semitism

Every year on 9 November, commemorative events mark the pogroms against Jews in 1938. Yet the violence of those days is not merely a thing of the past. For us, 9 November is therefore an occasion to remember – with a reading and musical performances – and to take a clear stand against anti-Semitism in Germany and throughout the world.

  • 9 November 2026, 6 pm, Heidelberg Theatre, Alter Saal

Reading, performance and show

Read as female

This new series focuses on the literary works of female* authors. Look forward to new literary discoveries and rediscoveries, presented by the theatre company and the dramaturgy team.

Reading Time

Once a month, members of the Theater & Orchester Heidelberg ensemble read at the Municipal Library, offering an exciting listening and reading experience (in German) – perfectly complementing the productions in our programme.

  • Monthly, Stadtbücherei Heidelberg, Hilde-Domin-Saal

Opera Jukebox

In a relaxed atmosphere, the ensemble’s singers become your very own live jukebox. The programme features not only the most famous opera hits but also an entertaining mix spanning musical history: from ABBA to Wagner, the variety knows no bounds. Each track costs (at least) one euro, and the proceeds go to a charitable organisation.

Storybook cinema (2+)

The cosy storybook cinema is an interactive afternoon for everyone aged two and over: stories read aloud live and projected images from classics and new discoveries invite you to watch and join in.

The Living Advent Calendar (3+)

Every year, the Living Advent Calendar opens its little doors. Every weekday in December, children aged three and over can enjoy a glimpse into the enchanting world of theatre – music, stories and much more invite you to marvel and join in!

  • Weekdays during Advent at the Zwinger, Foyer

Guck-Club »As You Like It« (16–100)

Staying open to new experiences: The Guck-Club is open to anyone aged 16 and over. Throughout the season, the group attends performances across all genres and discusses them – with no prior knowledge, but plenty of curiosity. What do you like? What surprises you? And what perhaps doesn’t? That’s exactly what it’s all about. This Guck-Club takes place in cooperation with the Volkshochschule Heidelberg.

  • Starts in November 2026, registration via the Volkshochschule Heidelberg website: vhs-hd.de

Guck-Club »As You Like It« (10–16)

We want to know what you want! Together, you’ll watch productions by the Young Theatre, attend rehearsals and share your thoughts. Through discussions and workshops, you’ll get to know people from the theatre and the work behind the scenes. We’re keen to hear your ideas and opinions. For everyone aged 10 to 16 who enjoys going to the theatre, meeting other theatre fans and helping to shape the Young Theatre.

Theatre tours – a look behind the scenes

Have you always wanted to take a look behind the scenes? The Theater & Orchester Heidelberg regularly offers public tours.

  • Dates can be found in the programme; tickets are available at the box office or via the online shop.

On request, we also offer tours for groups of 10 or more people or from Year 5 upwards (only in conjunction with a performance) and accessible tours.

Introductions and post-performance discussions

Discover the content before the performance, then discuss it afterwards: our introductions and post-performance discussions bring you closer to the play, the music, the characters and the themes – exciting, entertaining and with the odd ‘aha’ moment.

A Taste of the Theatre

Crown your evening at the theatre with a special treat: at selected performances, you can sample wines from the Adam Müller winery, perfectly paired with the show. Before the performance and during the interval, the winemakers will guide you through the tasting. At the same time, you’ll learn interesting facts about the upcoming production. You can book this offer directly at the box office alongside your regular ticket.

Offers for schools & other educational organisations

We also offer exciting and creative opportunities for teachers and educational institutions to explore. We invite you to attend rehearsals, offer pre- and post-performance activities – or our artists can visit nurseries and schools.
