BEƎTHOVEN | THE FESTIVAL
12 to 17 January 2027
Konzerthaus Stadthalle Heidelberg
2027 marks two hundred years since the death of Ludwig van Beethoven – a fitting occasion for a unique festival! We are taking six days to celebrate the great musician’s genius: his music, his visions and his timeless inspiration.
All nine symphonies form the heart of the celebrations. From the expressive first via the revolutionary »Eroica« to the visionary ninth with its »Ode to Joy«, they unfold a musical panorama that has touched the world for generations. There is more to Beethoven’s music than art: it is a message of freedom, hope and humanity.
For that very reason, the festival is not limited to the concert hall. The programme includes an exceptional choir concert, a thrilling breakdance show in collaboration with Flying Steps, Haus der Jugend Heidelberg and Freies Hip-Hop Institut, a reading by legendary actor August Zirner with chamber music accompaniment as well as an intercultural concert with musicians of Ensemble Colourage.
At the end of the festival, join us for a special collective experience as everyone who wants to join in – professionals, amateurs, no prior experience needed – will sing or play Beethoven’s »Ode to Joy« together, conducted by General Music Director Mino Marani. Be a part of this unforgettable moment at Konzerthaus Stadthalle Heidelberg!
The full programme is available at the start of pre-sales on 16 October 2026.
